The Social Services Office is available to anyone in the Readington Township community. Regular office hours are between 8:30 and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.  Emergency services are available at all times.

We provide a variety of services to residents including assessment, information about programs and referral to community resources, including Readington Starfish. In addition, we offer help with applying to programs such as PAAD, Lifeline, Home Energy Assistance, Senior Tax freeze and many more.  For information call the Social Services Office.

  • The Food Pantry will provide emergency food packages to families in need. Donations are accepted all year long. Readington Starfish holds food distributions at Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and the Fourth of July.
  • Readington Starfish assists Township residents with emergency needs.  Call to discuss your situation in confidence.

  • Try Meals on Wheels…
    Would you like to do lunch?  With Meals on Wheels, that is.  Meals on Wheels in Hunterdon has provided “comfort food” to our recipients since 1973;  now we’d like you to join us.  If you are over 60, homebound or have a disability. Meals on Wheels in Hunterdon can deliver a hot noontime meal Monday through Friday with weekend coverage if needed. Service can be short term until recovery or longer depending on individual needs.  Delicious meals delivered by warm and caring volunteers – what could be better?  If you or someone you know would benefit from the security and support of home delivered meals, contact Meals on Wheels today.  Call for more information.

Holiday Happenings

Thanks to the all of the community members who participated in the Fourth of July   Food Distribution.
Special thanks to the Holland Brook School Leader’s Club and the students at Holland Brook who collected food for our families as a special treat decorated our food bags with beautiful patriotic pictures.

CURRENT EVENTS:
Farmers Market Vouchers are NOW available at the Social Services office for income eligible seniors (60 years or older).  Single: $20,147  Couple $27,214.  Receive 4 free checks valued at $5 each for use at participating farm stands.

Backpacks for School
Social Services will be collecting school supplies for needy Township students through   August 25, 2012.  Donations may be dropped off at the Municipal Building between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Readington Area Starfish was started by a consortium of our local churches and is a community based volunteer organization that operates an emergency food pantry, assists local residents with emergency needs and provides holiday food “baskets” to families in need. This year, more than ever we need your help!!!

Thursday      November 15 – Last day to return food basket request forms!
Sunday         November 18- 6:30 p.m.  Set up Hall
Monday        November 19- 9:00 a.m.  Volunteers sort and separate food
Last day to drop off food….Must be dropped off by 10 a.m.
Tuesday       November 20- Distribution Day!!
9:00 a.m. to 12 noon Volunteers sort and separate food
5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Volunteers sort and pack fresh foods
6:00 to finish Food Basket pickup and delivery-
Volunteers hand out and load up food
5:30 p.m. Volunteers arrive to deliver food to those unable to pick up

Donations
Readington Starfish accepts food and monetary donations. Donations can be made through local churches, dropped off at the Municipal Building or mailed directly to Readington Area Starfish Treasurer, 530 Route 523, Whitehouse Station, NJ 08889.
