Solberg
Airport Information
Dear Resident:
As you may recall, in August of last year, the Township
held two public meetings regarding the future of Solberg
Airport. During these meetings, your input and discussion
were very helpful and appreciated.
At the
Monday, August 22, 2005 meeting, the Township and Solberg
Aviation Company agreed to enter into good faith
negotiations to develop a preservation plan that meets the
long stated goals of the Township with regard to open space
and natural resource preservation, maintains preservation
of the Solberg Airport and its unique heritage, and addresses
the concerns of the public that any such plan should preserve
Readington’s very special quality of life.
In the interim period of approximately three and a half
months since that meeting, seven negotiation sessions have
been conducted between the Township and the owners of the
Solberg Aviation Company.
Given the number of inquires from the public as to the status
of these negotiations, a Public Information Meeting has now
been scheduled for Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at 6:30 p.m.
at Holland Brook School, Readington Road. The purpose of
this meeting is to keep the public up to date on the negotiations
and to inform you of the various proposals discussed.
This will be an informational meeting only, with no action
taken by the Township Committee. There will be an opportunity
for public comments and questions. We look forward to your
participation.
Very truly yours,
Gerard J. Shamey
Mayor, Readington Township
